Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

This position will have the responsibility to advise and provide program support to prospective and current M.Sc & Ph.D students for the School of Engineering and Computer Science (ENCS). Responsibilities include student recruitment, analyzing student applications, course transfer evaluations and transcripts, assessing academic level of students, responding to academic inquiries, and developing individual academic plans. Oversee paperwork required for annual reviews, programs of study, assessment, and other processes (such as leave and program changes) within the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture and the Graduate School. Be a liaison with the Graduate School and support student related issues. Work in conjunction with Admin Manager to support assistantships for the program and assist international students to process immigration documents. This position will also provide proactive outreach and service to currently enrolled M.Sc & Ph.D students to ensure retention goals are met and exceeded. 


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience.

Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

Obtain WSU ACADA Level 1 certification within 6 months of hire.


Preferred Qualifications:

Work experience with engineers or other technical professionals.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience working with a diverse student population including non-traditional, first generation college students and under-represented student populations.
Familiarity with student information systems such as myWSU, and similar degree audit reports.

Position funded through June 30, 2025. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

Schedule

Hybrid work schedule and flexible scheduling may be an option after the initial training period.
