The History Department at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of US History, specializing in the Twentieth-Century History of the US in the World to begin in August 2022.

Responsibilities include teaching, researching, and developing curriculum in a range of the following areas depending on the successful candidate’s areas of expertise. Teaching load is 3/2, meaning that in regular Fall and Spring semesters, the faculty member will teach three (3- to 4- credit) courses one semester and two (3- to 4-credit) courses the other semester. Courses will be taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses may be offered face-to-face or online per needs of the department. ABDs may apply, but candidates must submit evidence of the receipt of the PhD degree by June 2022. The normal workload for this position is 40% teaching, 40% research and/or creative works and 20% service with potential for modification to reflect duties.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $60,000- $63,000. 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in History (ABDs may apply, but candidates must submit evidence of the receipt of the PhD degree by June 2022.).

Preferred Requirements:

  • Degree emphasis on the US in the World in the Twentieth Century

  • Experience teaching military, economic, environmental, and/or indigenous histories

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
