Job Purpose
The Business Analyst works with business partners to understand directions and priorities to assure the delivery of solutions. Assisting the business units in completing a project intake form, assist with project workflows of current state and desired state. Collect, analysis, document, and coordination of business partners’ business requirements. The incumbent navigates the competing needs of multiple stakeholder groups, defining end-to-end business processes, and mapping out supporting requirements for one or more systems.

Function Details
  • Partner with functional owners to understand specific business needs, evaluate the effectiveness with which those needs are being met, and identify opportunities for increased efficiencies through effective utilization of client’s technology solutions. Translate, document, and communicate these business needs as user stories and/or business requirements.
  • Prepare for and conduct requirement elicitation activities, gathering critical information from meetings with various stakeholders. Ensure business goals, initiative objectives, and success metrics are captured.
  • Confirm elicitation results with project team and end users.
  • Analyze and document business operations – decomposing functional processes and defining future state, business operations impacts, and value creation for the organization.
  • Help business stakeholders envision how their business processes/work will be impacted by the technology solution, and act as a change agent to support their desired future state.
  • Collaborate with Developers and Technical Architect to ensure that any proposed changes, specifications, or new functionality align with the application strategy and underlying architecture. Ensure developed solutions add business value, meet business needs, and fulfill documented requirements.
  • Manage own work on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Produce effective documentation of project and system deliverables – within the scope of business analysis. Documents may include: business/functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, gap analysis, data flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, business case presentation, end-user training guides, meeting minutes, discussions and agreements, etc.
  • Create/update new user or procedural documentation when new processes arise.
  • Diagram current and future state
  • Contribute to project documents and logs (when applicable) for: Risks, Issues, Decisions, and Action Items.
  • Collaborate with development team to document deployed changes in system change log.
  • Conduct post-project evaluation of own performance and efficacy of employed business analysis tactics.

Minimum Qualifications
  • ​Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ experience in information technology, technical project management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Project (or comparable solution, Microsoft Visio (or comparable solution) and the Microsoft Office suite;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to capture and explain goals and objectives to business units as well as technical team members and leadership;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality;
  • Able to multi-task in a cross-functional environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated ability to function as an effective liaison between administrative/academic users and technical IT staff;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Excellent Business Analysis Skills;
  • Experience communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
Desired Qualifications
  • ​3+ years of experience;
  • General understanding and knowledge of software applications, operating systems, computer components, and network applications/concepts, and data communications equipment utilized by the Gonzaga ITS Project Management Office;
