Job Description:

The Music Business/Management Department within the Professional Education Division at Berklee is now accepting applications for a full-time faculty position advancing the new Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Leadership and Innovation degree and its curriculum. This is a 9-month, in-person position (fall/spring semesters) with opportunity for teaching during the summer semester. Contract is renewable. Compensation is commensurate with professional experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of courses in design strategy, design thinking, human-centered design, and other innovation mindsets and methodologies

  • Assist in the development, supervision, and management of innovation labs, student practicums, and capstone projects

  • Create and develop new courses that advance an innovation-based curriculum

  • Advise students in their academic progress and application of course substance, and in matters related to curriculum and degree requirements

  • Engage in activities related to college service and professional development

  • Participate in department meetings and other department-sponsored events

  • Maintain and cultivate professional relationships/network with the music industry

  • Work with the department in its ongoing review, revision, and development of the Music Business/Management program and curriculum

  • Advance the student experience and the work of the Department, the Division, and the College

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in an Arts, legal, or business discipline

  • Demonstrated record of expertise in design strategy, design thinking, human-centered design, innovation methodologies, new product development, and/or start-ups

  • Teaching experience; college/university teaching experience preferred

  • Demonstrated record of professional experience in business environments with an arts, music, or music business connection preferred

  • Strong command of technology to support and advance the work

  • Excellent verbal and written and communication skills

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access

  • Student-centric perspective with a strong commitment to creativity and implementation


START DATE
The start date for the position is Summer/Fall 2023.
