Description

Tacoma Power is currently looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Fisheries Sciences Manager to join our Natural Resources team. Natural Resources is positioned in the Generation Section which is responsible for creating clean, reliable energy for delivery to Tacoma Power customers. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Fisheries Sciences group – providing leadership and supervision, oversight of FERC required fisheries Monitoring and Evaluation, monitoring and evaluation focused on Tacoma owned hatcheries, oversight of fish passage programs, and development and coordination of fish management plans. Responsibilities will include: * Participate and contribute to the development of a positive and productive culture in the Natural Resources team by exercising outward mindset principles and being committed to understanding and contributing to the overall organizational goals. * Direct and oversee employees performing the following tasks: * Direct supervision of 3 employees including 2 Natural Resource Specialist III’s, and 1 Natural Resource Specialist II (and oversight of a team of 4). Provide supervision, guidance to front line supervisor and Project Managers, mentorship and corrective guidance as necessary. * Oversee a team dedicated to Fisheries Science that is tasked to work in partnership with the organization to make informed and balanced decisions when Creating clean, reliable, marketable energy while ensuring the stewardship of our resources * Serve as a team expert and working manager in the fields of monitoring and evaluation, fish passage, hatchery evaluation and fish management plans * Develop programs and project management strategies to advance goals for organization in alignment with internal and external stakeholders * Lead or oversee leadership of fisheries science subcommittees dedicated to advancing fisheries science programs. * Work in cooperation with Resources Agencies per the guidance of the Natural Resources Manager to build long lasting partnerships and through mutual coordination efforts.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, forestry, resource management, archaeology or other science related to area of specialty AND * Ten years of professional-level experience in fisheries or related environmental programs Master's degree is preferred and may be substituted for two years of experience LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid Washington State Driver License at time of application with maintenance thereafter Complete First Aid and CPR certification within six-months of appointment with maintenance thereafter
