Job Description

Responsibilities

-Monitors and evaluates internal controls and oversees banking and receivables operational processes for Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and TVMDL including cash receipting, accounts receivable, collections, interdepartmental transfers (IDT) and Ecommerce business processes.

-Develops methods for improving efficiencies within AgriLife Banking and Receivables Office.

-Responsible for banking and receivables USAS and FAMIS accounting entries.

-Responsible for clearing outstanding bank items and accounting journal entries.

- Ensures state compliance reporting for state sales tax, stale dated checks, unclaimed property, and PCI credit card compliance.

-Reviews internal processing procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and state and federal regulations.

-Develop procedures, train fiscal staff, new employees, and end users on best practices in cash handling, accounts receivable, payments and Ecommerce.

-Serves as PCI compliance coordinator.

-Liaison with Wells Fargo, credit card merchants, and System Treasury Office for agencies banking activities.

-Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others.

- Represent agencies at TAMUS workshops and professional development training.

-Other job-related duties as required.


Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience (4 years' experience with high school diploma/GED or 2 years' experience with Associate's degree.). Plus an additional eight (8) years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in accounting. Experience in higher education, TAMUS experience. Experience with Business Objects, bank statements and terminology.

Preferred Licenses, Certifications or Registration:

Professional Certification, CPA


Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.  Knowledge of accounting practices. Good verbal and written communication skills. Customer service and problem solving skills. Familiarity with internal controls. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Demonstrated ability to supervise others.

Preferred Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations.  Working knowledge of FAMIS, USAS, Business Objects.
