The financial management analyst manages assigned projects and financial project portfolios for the Nicholas School of the Environment. In the preparation and coordination of various financial reports and analyses for operating units.

Operations/Financial Management Responsibilities – 100%

  • Analyze monthly project/program financial statements to determine the proper charging of revenues and expenditures in accordance with the School’s policies and procedures. Monitor and report on the financial performance of individual projects/programs within the School; and recommend corrective actions based on analysis. Prepare and coordinate distribution of various financial reports and analyses for management including reconciliation of assigned fund codes. (20%)
  • Assist in performing monthly and year-end general operating closing activities including but not limited to identifying and generating required journal vouchers and research and analysis of financial data for assigned portfolios as needed. Make recommendations to improve financial systems, analyze deficiencies, and report findings/solutions to the manager. (15%)
  • This position must verify all charge activity is consistent with authorization requests and resulting charges for assigned portfolios. Provide oversight for checks and purchase orders. Vet transactions prepared by the accounting specialist; prepare more complex transactions for business manager approval. Provide guidance and support to the accounting specialists in the implementation of corporate card administration and processing for assigned portfolios. (15%)
  • Oversee resolution of problems invoices; prepare and track invoices for special services provided by NSOE units, including developing and obtaining approval for costing rates; and manage Bursar/Cashier deposits. (10%)
  • Coordinate delivery of needs with the assigned portfolio manager to ensure the securing of necessary equipment and materials through internal and external vendors. Supervise and coordinate the preparation of materials for various functions, including but not limited to

outsourcing events, ordering, and securing contracts. Manage independent contractor’s process. Coordinate the proper allocation of shared resource costs to all stakeholders in accordance with agreed-upon terms to ensure receipt of funds transfer. (20%)

  • Advise and assist in the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures to improve business functions and ensure compliance with all University policies. Oversee procurement card management process and Concur expense reports, including quarterly write-offs, and general purchasing processes for his/her assigned portfolio. Serve as an internal resource to staff for designated general business inquiries. Work closely with external departments to resolve issues, meet deadlines, and improve efficiency. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. (20%)

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work generally requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or a related business field.


Experience

No experience required for candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in a field of study related to the specific position.
