Planning, Assessment, and Strategy  provides leadership related to the strategic and operational plans and priorities of the University, as well as assessing, recommending, and advising on university structures and communication strategies.  Additionally, the group advises on access, affordability, continuous improvement, and growth initiatives.

The Financial Analyst III, under direction, develops financial models to support strategic and programmatic goals.  Provides strong analytical skills for understanding and communicating the data provided in the models.  Conducts comprehensive analyses of financial, payroll, personnel, student data, and other data.   Serves as a resource and provides business planning and forecasting to other constituents.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years of finance and accounting related work experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to make independent judgments and communicate well with a wide variety of people.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperative with others. 

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with data management systems (Data Warehouse, Business Objects, HCM Workday, FAMIS, and Compass).

  • Advanced skills with spreadsheets. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Conducts comprehensive analyses of financial, payroll, personnel, student data, and other data.  

  • Creates, prepares, and maintains business management reports. 

  • Tracks key performance indicators for operational divisions and campus health. 

  • Develops presentations for communicating budget and other financial information to various audiences.

  • Serves as an internal consultant to campus departments.

Business Modeling and Forecasting

  • Develops financial models to support strategic and programmatic goals. 

  • Develops and maintains models to perform revenue and expense forecasting.

  • Provides strong analytical skills for understanding and communicating the data provided in the models. 

  • Serves as a resource and provides business planning and forecasting to other constituents.

Special Projects

  • Works on special projects for the university.
