Student Success and Well-Being Student Financial Assistance

The Office of Student Financial Assistance (SFA) is a department within Student Success and Well Being. SFA is responsible for the administration of federal, state, institutional and private educational funding. SFA works in conjunction with other departments on campus to support student success while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The Opportunity:

The UCF Office of Student Financial Assistance seeks a Financial Aid Coordinator I to join their team. This coordinator position is responsible for the coordination, supervision and administration of the Federal Work Study program, Federal Teach Grant Program and the Florida Work Experience program. This position coordinates with the Special Graduate and concurrent nursing program coordinators to manage the students financial aid eligibility and awarding.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and implementation of the FWS program, TEACH Grant program, and FWEP regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.

  • Acts as a liaison between University departments and organizations that have students working under the FWS program and the Office of Student Financial Assistance, UCF Human Resources, as well as a mediator between the students and the supervisors.

  • Manages the administration and training on access and use of the FWS comprehensive platform: Workday.

  • Responsible for advising students and department supervisors of FWS policies and procedures and general student financial assistance information.

  • Responsible for coordination and administration of federal aid to students in special graduate and nursing concurrent programs to ensure the students’ financial aid information is current and accurate according to the programs they are enrolled and attending.

  • Primary contact with other units at the University. Extensive contact with the public, parents, and students at community events and functions, and in the office. Ongoing contact with the Department of Education, and other entities involved in processing student aid.

  • Monitors and coordinates the reconciliation of FWS, TEACH, and FWEP programs and assists with the fiscal reporting.

  • Manages and coordinates the off-campus partnerships for FWS community service.

  • Coordinates and administers the eligibility and awarding process for TEACH Grants.

  • Advises and counsels students and parents regarding the financial aid process. Analyzes and evaluates students' financial needs.

  • Advises on availability and sources of financial assistance including Pell Grant, campus-based aid, Federal Stafford loans, scholarships, and other programs.

  • Interprets the policies, the processes, and the regulations pertaining to financial aid and all aid programs.

  • Participates in outreach activities and presentation of financial aid information to groups of students, parents, high school counselors, and the public in workshops or training sessions.

  • Attends professional workshops, meetings, and training sessions to assure adequate professional development and keep abreast of current rules and regulations.

  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) . 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing exceptional customer service to a variety of stakeholders across departments and levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple, concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a cooperative work environment.

  • Responsible for development and review of presentations that are used for outreach to ensure consistency, accuracy, and creativity.

  • Creates presentations for the various entities who request the office's participation during outreach events.

  • Knowledge of basic keyboard skills.

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
