Holy Names University invites applications for a full-time Field Placement Administrator in the Master’s Program in Counseling and Forensic Psychology (CPSY). This position provides support to students throughout the process of fulfilling their field placement hours in the field. This position serves a vital role in the program as it provides support, oversight, and professional development guidance to students throughout the field placement experience. The Field Placement Administrator also assists students in applying for their intern number upon graduation. This position is also responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships between the CPSY programs and community-based agencies and institutions so as to facilitate field placement opportunities. Finally, the Field Placement Administrator assists the Program Director in complying with BBS changes in curriculum as well as any adjustments needed to maintain the program’s accreditation with the State of California, as well as other administrative projects in the department. This position reports to the Director of the Counseling and Forensic Psychology Programs. The Field Placement Administrator will also provide academic advising to CPSY student body.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
- Guiding students through the process of applying for a field placement.
- Advising all Field Placement students regarding concerns and professional development issues with respect to their traineeships.
- Hold regular office hours and respond in a timely manner to students’ requests, concerns, etc.
- Provide bi-yearly student field placement orientation and overview.
- Maintain and update student traineeship files.
- Maintain and update electronic database of Practicum Placements in Bay Area.
- Support Director in Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) related tasks as mandated by the BBS.
- Work with Director to develop four Professional Development Workshops each semester related to the practice of counseling and forensic psychology.
- Document preparation, including correspondence, flyers, emails, letters, spreadsheets, BBS mandated field placement forms and, for MFT and LPCC students, guiding students through completing the paperwork to apply for their internship number from the BBS.
- Visit each placement site once a year.
- Organize an annual Field Placement Fair at the university for all MFT and LPCC students.
- Provide logistical support for special events.
- Provide support for program-related projects as needed.
- Participate in county activities and workgroups that support the program, including participation in the Northern California MFT Consortium.
- With support of Director, develop collaborations with community-based agencies, government and social justice organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, or LMT or LPCC.
- Must be licensed or licensed eligible.
- Familiarity with BBS LMT/LPCC field placement requirements.
- Knowledge of mental health agencies and county programs in Alameda County.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not necessary.
