Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position will support ongoing projects related to nutrient transport from
agricultural land to receiving water bodies.
The primary duties of this position are:
  • Visiting and maintaining edge-of-the-field sites located throughout the State of Maryland with H-flumes, ISCO auto-samplers, flow meters, rain-gauges, and real-time insitu sensors.
  • Performing routine maintenance/repairs on field instruments/equipment and tools to ensure operational readiness, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Providing research support including recommending research protocols. Monitoring the activity of crops and documenting research findings and results.
  • Acting as a liaison with the farmers and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining automated and/or manual recordkeeping systems pertaining to experimentation/field research.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and articles.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • A bachelor’s degree in science, preferably with a focus on environmental science or chemistry.

  • Experiences with various techniques used in the laboratory and field approaches for sampling water, soil, or air. A US driver’s license is required.

Physical Demands
Lift up to 10 lbs. Traverse uneven surfaces, and be willing to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
