The Opportunity:

The Utilities and Engineering Services department at UCF is actively recruiting a qualified Facilities Condition Assessor. In this crucial role, the selected candidate will be responsible for meticulously evaluating and documenting the physical condition of buildings, structures, and systems within the University system. This position involves conducting thorough and comprehensive facility assessments, identifying deficiencies, and delivering essential information pivotal for maintenance planning, real estate transactions, and long-term capital planning.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough assessments of on and off-campus buildings, structures, and systems, documenting findings using standardized assessment tools and software.

2. Utilize computer tablets with built-in cameras to record mechanical or electrical equipment conditions, assign replacement dates, and identify deficiencies and potential problems.

3. Collaborate with UES Engineering to analyze and implement facility condition assessment needs, ensuring adherence to university specifications, building codes, and efficient assessment processes.

4. Lead customer FCA review meetings, act as a liaison between customers and service providers, and provide leadership with data to improve planned work efficiency.

5. Maintain an up-to-date tracking system for facility condition assessments, conduct visual inspections, and compile detailed reports including photographs, condition ratings, deficiency lists, and recommendations.

6. Support the University Master Plan by aligning the FCA list with the plan and assisting in the development of practical life cycle forecasts for diverse stakeholders.

7. Provide guidance to UES Engineering, facility managers, and project managers, ensuring accurate scopes of work and adherence to facility condition assessment replacement recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) . 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to practical project management fundamentals.

  • Willingness to obtain a professional certification related to buildings, building systems, or engineering.

  • Understanding of health, safety, and security standards in building environments.

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and navigating software systems.

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Experience in commercial building assessment.

  • Construction knowledge, Facilities Background, Commercial Property knowledge of single & multi-story buildings.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and ordinances.

  • Familiarity with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • High-quality skills in research and analysis.
