Job Description

Responsibilities:

-Assist TPDDL-Tactical Science survey team in executing and participating in survey activities (eg. Grape Commodity and Stone Fruit surveys).

- Participate in survey related activities, including field observations and screening procedures in a diagnostic laboratory.

- Ability to perform detection testing/screening for plant diseases of importance to the surveys.

- Assist Program Specialist (Diagnostician) in activities of the TPDDL-CS, such as but not limited to performing various diagnostic tests and providing support in data recording and management of plant samples.

- Assist in other relevant projects in field and in the laboratory.
- Assist in the general care and maintenance of the laboratory and laboratory equipment.

- Assist Program Specialist to develop, produce and deliver education outreach materials and resources to stakeholders.

- Participate in planning sessions, trainings, telephone call/conferences, and e-mail correspondence. 

- May supervise student workers in conducting surveys.
- Other duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
 

Preferred Experience:

- Survey experience, Plant Pathology / Entomology experience.

- Field experiences with survey methodology (pathogen and pest monitoring) and laboratory skills such as microscopy, genomic extractions, real-time PCR and conventional PCT testing is highly desirable.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
