What We Want

The Conflict of Interest/Responsible Conduct of Research office is currently in search of a Research Compliance Administrator. In this role, under direction, you will be responsible for evaluating and addressing compliance concerns. Additionally, you will collaborate with researchers and other staff on compliance matters, provide training, coordinate standard office procedures (SOPs) with office processes, and maintain accurate and detailed records for auditing purposes. We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, such as research administration/compliance or State/Federal regulations. Ideally, you should possess a working knowledge of University software systems, and advanced or law degree, and/or EAR/ITAR certifications. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years of experience in a related area such as research administration/compliance, State/Federal regulations, or research administration.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Federal and University regulations pertaining to export controls, and/or experience in sponsored research administration.

  • Requires tact and diplomacy and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of University software systems.

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people of many backgrounds.

  • Two years of experience in research compliance related area, export controls, audit, research administration, foreign influence, and/or compliance monitoring.

  • Experience working with database and spreadsheet software. Law degree or legal experience; EAR and/or ITAR certifications.

Essential Duties/Tasks:

  • Export Controls Compliance - Reviews faculty and staff activities for compliance with university, state, and federal export control requirements related to proposals, grants, contracts, sponsored and non-sponsored research agreements, international travel, international shipping, international collaborations, and any other export control related activity. Tracks and facilitates coordination with other programs, offices, and processes. Maintains current SOPs and ensures processes are followed through periodic review with office procedures.

  • Global Engagement - Coordinates with supervisor and/or Executive Director and/or delegate in all matters related to global engagement and potential undue foreign influence; assists with international collaboration reviews and other organizational activities for any undue foreign influence implications, and assists with providing comprehensive guidance to stakeholders regarding undue foreign influence; monitors Federal research sponsors ever-changing regulations and guidelines pertaining to undue foreign influence; assists with reviews of Federal proposals and awards to ensure Federal disclosure reporting is accurate; coordinates with supervisor and/or Executive Director and/or delegate to develop policies and guidelines for approval including developing or modifying SOPs and office processes; conducts training as needed, and assists in the development of training materials. Assists in updating and maintaining online training resources and other materials and program websites pertaining to global engagement and foreign influence.

  • Program Support - Coordinates with supervisor and/or the Executive Director and/or delegate to develop policies and guidelines for approval including developing or modifying Standard Office Procedures (SOPs) and office processes. Coordinates with existing program staff to maintain electronic and paper files ensuring all are up-to-date and complete. Assists staff in the development of training materials. Assists in updating and maintaining online training resources and other materials and program websites. Serves as a liaison between the programs and the research community as appropriate. Consults and advises faculty, staff, and students in the preparation of required documents based on knowledge of guidelines, rules and Federal regulations.
