Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
  • Provide elevator, escalator, and lift 3rd party contract inspection and deficiency correction contract oversight for more than 250 vertical lift units throughout campus.
  • Develops scopes of work for vertical lift 3rd party inspection contracts.
  • Provide coordination, supervision (regular and contract), and field inspection for all phases of the campus elevator and escalator maintenance contracts.
  • Develop specifications and scopes of work for elevator maintenance contracts and elevator rehabilitation/modernization programs. Review designs for new elevators.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial management/contract administration, engineering, electro-mechanical/elevators or related field, OR, any combination of related experience may be substituted on a one (1) year of experience for one (1) year of education basis for the required education.

Experience:
  • Two (2) – four (4) years experience with a degree; without a degree: Six (6) years experience in construction contract administration and four (4) years of experience in elevator maintenance and repair or electro-mechanical experience, including at least five (3) years in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of contract procedures and administration.
  • Ability to analyze electro-mechanical problems and to determine causes and necessary corrective actions.
  • General knowledge of maintenance trades with expertise in electrical and electronic maintenance.
  • Familiarity with ANSI Elevator Code, OSHA, MOSHA, ADA, and other regulations governing the safe operations of elevators.

  • Qualified Elevator Inspector certification from the National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC).
Additional Certifications:
  • Must possess & maintain a Class C or equivalent driver’s license with fewer than 6 points.

Physical Demands
Incumbent must be able to work in a construction site environment and have the ability to work in hazardous or irritating environments created as a result of construction. Incumbent must travel across campus in all weather conditions and may be required to enter elevator shafts, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms and other areas to diagnose and repair problems. Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
