The Eagleton Science and Politics Program (ESPP) is accepting applications for the Eagleton Science and Politics Fellowship.

Doctoral-level natural scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals apply their expertise to assist New Jersey legislators and decision-makers on the design and implementation of state policies.

The Science Fellowship offers three tracks:

Legislative Track  - placement in one of four partisan offices (Democrat and Republican Assembly or Senate offices )

Executive Track - placement in one of New Jersey State departments and agencies

Climate Action Track - placement in the Division of Clean Energy at the NJ Board of Public Utilities

Eligibility:

  • Ph.D. in natural science, engineering, or a healthcare profession by July 1, 2024 US citizenship or a suitable work eligibility status (See FAQ for details)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary; paid-time off; health, dental, & vision benefits Professional development fund University-wide support, including library and PubMed access Week-long pre-placement training in New Jersey politics and government Year-long professional development support, including mentorships

Fellowship:

  • 1-year, full-time and in-house Placements and fellowship events will take place in Trenton and New Brunswick Fellowship begins July 15, 2024 Placements are collaboratively identified based on Science Fellow’s interests, background, and project availability

Career Paths:

Many ESPF alumni have been retained by their placement office as full-time employees, others pursue careers on the federal level as legislative aides, fellows, and program managers; in government affairs; policy analysis; NIH and National Academies; K-12 and higher education; consulting; and others.
