Donor Work-Up Coordinator - Marrow Donor Program - Georgetown University Medical Center
Job Overview
The Donor Work-Up Coordinator organizes all donor activities - i.e. , information session, sample collection, physical exam and clearance, travel arrangements) for the C.W. Bill Young Marrow Donor center, up to and including stem cell donation and follow-ups after the stem cell donation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review all medical screening information and performs follow-up with all DoD volunteer stem cell donors
- Collaborate with Donor Services colleagues, various military installations, civilian hospitals, and other NMDP donor and transplant centers to ensure timely coordination of sample collection and medical testing of potential stem cell donors
- Perform all duties in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of Georgetown University Medical Center and NMDP
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Reporting directly the Manager of Donor Services and to Work-UP Team Leaders, the Donor Work-Up Coordinator interacts routinely with other Donor Center Coordinators, Team Leaders, Manager, Program Directors, potential donors, nurses, physicians and other Donor centers and Contract Labs. Position reports directly to Manager – Donor Services and Work-Up Team Leaders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience]
- 1 to 2 years of donor coordination experience
- Advanced organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work with colleagues and donors of diverse backgrounds
- Good computer skills - experienced with word processing
- Attention to detail
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing or health-related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a health-related field
