What We Want

The Office of the Provost seeks a Director for Distance and Digital Education to monitor and coordinate distance education program development efforts across the institution. This position will provide direction and support to the various programs via labor market analysis, operations leadership, and cross-functional collaborations and partnerships. We are looking for someone who is collaborative and thrives working with others to meet strategic goals.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years program development, labor market analytics, management, or closely related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of labor market analytics, learning technologies, communication and collaboration software. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of labor market analytics tools. Project management skills.
  • Ability to work with faculty and administrators in academic program development.
  • Understanding of student success key performance indicators.
  • More than ten years doing learning analytics work and program assessment in an educational setting.
  • Experience with digital learning tools and distance education practices (including program development).

Essential Duties/Tasks


Leadership:

  • Contribute to university-level dialogue on procedures and policies that encourage growth through effective recruitment, enrollment, and retention services.
  • Provides data analytic expertise to university leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and coordinate distance program development (with Academic Effectiveness and Planning) efforts across the institution.

Strategic Analytics:

  • Researches, analyzes, and produces regular reports and analysis reflecting on college enrollment, student characteristics, and trends.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets labor market data to support new program development and identification of new program opportunities. 
  • Recommends data-driven decisions regarding improved enrollment management plans & strategies, and enrollment forecasting.
  • Uses analytics and market data to help programs strengthen their offerings and target potential students.

Operations:

  • Align new distance and digital program opportunities with real-time labor-market data identifying new program demand, most effective method of modality and institutional return on investment.
  • Identify learning technology partnerships that support recruitment, live labor-market data, and student learning outcomes.
  • Responsible for understanding and assessing current, potential, and future digital educational resources including integration capabilities and expansion abilities.
  • Provides subject matter expert recommendations for digital education tools and technology that are aligned with best practice digital learning pedagogy and design while maximizing University resources.

Coordination:

  • Coordinate with Vice President for Professional Schools and Programs on professional school offerings in the distance education area.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Vice President for Academic Effectiveness & Planning in the distance education area.
  • Facilitate unique academic and industry partnerships by which labor-market data overcome skills or education gaps.
  • Establishes and maintains a network of industry contacts through participation in professional/trade associations, conferences, and other professional networking organizations.
  • Liaise between Center for Teaching Excellence and Technology Services to inform third-party learning tool assessments and decisions.
  • Assists with the strategic planning for a comprehensive, user-friendly, and appealing web presence related specifically to distance education.
