Position Summary Information


Objective
The program director has leadership responsibility for planning, development, evaluation, assessment, accreditation and revision of instruction. This is a position that involves the screening/recommendation for hire, supervision, and evaluation of all faculty/staff assigned to the program. In addition, the program director has responsibility for effective administration and operations of its Program within the Division. The program director is accountable to the Dean of Health Sciences.
Essential Duties
1. Responsible for maintaining compliance with all programmatic accreditation standards as well as those with WECM, THECB, and SACSCOC.
2. Update curriculum to include evaluation and revision of course syllabi in Concourse and website to include catalog.
3. Maintain liaison with TEEX Fire Academy, advisory committees, clinical agencies, and accrediting bodies.
4. Ensure that new faculty have proper documentation, orientation, and mentoring to successfully meet student needs.
5. Coordinate recruitment, orientation, advising, and placement of students in the program.
6. Collect, evaluate and assess programmatic and course outcomes to include annual reports and assessments.
7. Provide instruction in the classroom and/or laboratory, create examinations, quizzes, and grading rubrics. Develop online courses as appropriate.
8. Provide oversight and monitor annual budget.
9. Maintain professional competency through practice, continuing education and professional activities.
10. Evaluate full-time, part-time faculty and staff employees. Lead hiring committees for all areas.
11. Accept other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fire Science/Protection or related field.
2. Certified Instructor II with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
3. Certified Structural Firefighter
4. Minimum of 3 years field experience
Preferred Experience and Training
1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Fire Science/Protection
2. Certified Master Firefighter with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
Physical Requirements
Lifting under 15 lbs.
Climbing stairs.
Required Degree, License or Certifications
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fire Science/Protection or related field
2. Certified Instructor II with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection
3. Certified Structural Firefighter
