Digital Marketing Specialist
USC Marshall School of Business
Center for Effective Organizations

The Center for Effective Organizations (CEO) is part of USC’s Marshall School of Business.  Its offices are located in the school’s downtown Los Angeles USC City Center building.  The Center is seeking a candidate experienced in the following areas.  Successful candidates will be able to collaborate with co-workers and manage responsibilities independently.  Preferred work experience is a minimum of 5-7 years total combined experience in these areas. 


MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS

Development and management of the Center’s overall public relations, communications, and marketing; Marketing efforts should advance the reputation of the Center and disseminate new knowledge from its research work to academia, research project stakeholders, corporate sponsors and clients, and business management professionals.

  • Develop strategic marketing plan including acquisition and retention marketing (digital newsletter, email, social media, digital marketing and 3rd party campaigns) based on core target audience segments of senior leaders within Fortune 500 companies.
  • Develop messages and generate stories about the Center’s research, publications, and executive education programs that can be used as articles and news for email campaigns, the CEO e-newsletter, website, content marketing, social media, and media relations.
  • Conduct email campaigns:  Write content, design, and develop email campaigns for upcoming workshops, webinars, and special events.  Includes responsibility for determining database segmentation for each email campaign based on program content, geographic area, and reach to desired business executive level.
  • Write, edit, design and disseminate e-newsletter to all stakeholders; Newsletter is used to communicate useful news, research findings, articles, events, and information; 
  • Manage marketing and information sharing partnerships with organizations disseminating research in the Human Resource space (e.g. HRPS, i4cp, IQPC, HR.com, Oxford Economics, SHRM) 
  • Serve as liaison with external partners to promote Center’s activities; Maintain contacts within Marshall School of Business, other University departments, and pertinent professional organizations
  • Support management of CRM system and outbound communications integration with system

WEBSITE MANAGEMENT
Serves as the Center’s webmaster.  Development and advancement of a cohesive website program that promotes the Center and disseminates new knowledge gained through its research work.

  • Manage all aspects of the Center’s internet presence: including website, webinars, social media, and online communities; Develop and expand the Center's online presence and public exposure in academia and the business management field by implementing improvements to the Center's website capabilities, on-line email marketing plan, and social media site presence
  • Design, development, and technical improvements to the functionality of the Center’s website; WordPress CMS is required.  Act as liaison between Center and University IT department to ensure smooth functioning of site; Resolve technical issues or problems related to website and e-commerce partners/hosts and issues impacting website purchases, program registrations, etc.  Stay informed of technology developments
  • Write, design, post, and update all content for the website including CEO’s online research newsletter and summaries of research papers
  • Manage Center’s Eventbrite account and create registration pages for all of CEO’s events
  • CEO webinars:  Manage promotion, reminders, follow up post webinars and meetings, serve as technical host, record / manage editing, post to YouTube and CEO website, and archive
  • Social media:  Manage LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter accounts for CEO (including creating and posting to all 3 platforms as CEO; Manage blogs and Twitter for CEO (including editing and posting blogs to 3 entities, and creating and posting tweets, etc.)

EXECUTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
The successful management, administration, and delivery of services for both public and custom executive education programs includes the following important responsibilities:

  • Manage delivery of services and program logistics; Work with program presenters to develop program content; Prepare program materials; Coordinate logistics with program venue or digital platform
  • Travel may be required:  both out-of-state and out-of-Los Angeles area; Executive education programs are usually held at locations away from the Center and USC.  Some program locations may be out-of-state and require multiple days of travel; other programs may be within the Los Angeles area and require driving to and from meeting venues.  
  • While managing a program, additional work outside of the normal workday is routine and should be expected—especially during peak program preparation times, during actual program meeting days, and for related evening events;
  • Serve as liaison for program participants and presenters:  includes correspondence with participants and presenters; Answer program content questions, provide program information and meeting logistics to participants; On-site liaison at meeting venue; Manage all day-of-event logistics

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree; Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Thorough knowledge of marketing and business management.  Knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts and methodology of marketing.  Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Education: Master’s Degree
  • Preferred Experience: 5 years

The annual base salary range for this position is $74,510.27 - $92,396.96 USD Annual. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
