USCs Marshall School of Business is seeking Associate Director of Alumni Relations to join its External Relations team. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Alumni Relations, the Associate Director develops and promotes a wide range of opportunities to build and foster relationships with alumni, increase engagement, and deepen alumni affinity to the school. The position will work directly with alumni of the USC Marshall School of Business and Leventhal School of Accounting.

The ideal candidate has experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, project management, and event planning, as well as a deep understanding of the relationship between alumni engagement and philanthropy.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Program Manager for Graduate Programs Reunion Weekend:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Graduate Programs Reunion Weekend, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience for alumni attendees.

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop the Graduate Programs Reunion Ambassadors, who will support with the planning and execution of the reunion weekend.

  • Work closely with various departments and stakeholders to develop a diverse and engaging program that aligns with the interests and preferences of alumni.

  • Manage logistics, budget, and communications related to the reunion weekend, including registration, accommodations, and event scheduling.

  • Lead for Lifelong Learning and Innovation:

  • Conceptualize, plan, and implement a range of lifelong learning initiatives and innovation events designed to provide ongoing value to alumni. Some of these events will be in partnership with alumni volunteers.

  • Identify relevant topics, speakers, and formats for events, workshops, webinars, and other educational opportunities.

  • Train alumni volunteers from boards and councils on effective lifelong learning strategies to host engaging and thoughtful programs.

  • Organize and share lifelong learning and innovation tools that will allow alumni to continue to engage in their own professional development.

  • Alumni Career Liaison:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for alumni seeking career-related resources.

  • Coordinate career-focused initiatives, with alumni volunteers, to develop tools and resources for alumni.

  • Collaborate with career services offices to provide tailored career tools and networking opportunities for alumni across various industries and career stages.

  • Market current student job fairs, hosted by career services offices, to help connect students to firms and organizations.

  • Student Engagement to Alumni Liaison:

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage current students in alumni relations activities, fostering a sense of community and continuity.

  • Collaborate with student organizations to facilitate interactions between students and alumni, including mentorship programs, networking events, and alumni panels.

  • Provide guidance and support to student-led initiatives aimed at connecting with alumni.

  • Partner with degree programs to onboard students to the alumni community experience and share tools that alumni receive as being part of our network.

  • Manages special projects as directed by the Senior Director of Alumni Relations.

  • Some evening and weekend work is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-7 years proven experience in alumni relations in a higher education setting

  • Demonstrated ability and energy to professionally and effectively build new relationships and communities on an ongoing basis

  • Goal oriented and results driven

  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary and interdisciplinary lines, and to interact successfully with a diverse constituency of varying abilities, backgrounds, interests and beliefs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proactive follow up and follow through skills

  • Strong organization skills with an attention to detail

  • Ability to think creativity, be a self-starter and apply an entrepreneurial mindset

  • Passion and knowledge of higher education and business schools


Anticipated Hiring Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $95,821.88 - $126,324.92. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidates work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
