Job Description

Educational Outreach and Student Services is seeking an energetic and self-motivated and team-oriented individual, to work on its Strategic Marketing and Communications team. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with team members and stakeholders develop, manage and deploy digital communications and marketing strategies through EOSS websites, social media platforms and electronic communications that advance EOSS goals and support student success.

Essential Duties

  • Develops, drives and evaluates the department’s digital communications strategy including, but not limited to: producing content and providing direction for websites, social media accounts and other digital platforms.
  • Researches, creates, edits, and modifies web content in order to develop, implement, and enhance the marketing and communication efforts of the department Plan, assign and review content and ensure content meets institutional and marketing goals and maintains ASU’s brand voice.
  • Leads project discovery meetings and serve as the primary point of contact for departmental subject matter experts/stakeholders and web content editors, providing support, offering training on the web content development process, web updates and facilitating support from the EOSS Marketing team.
  • Guides and trains team members and stakeholders in organizing information for the web and how to write effective web content. Defines and leads the implementation and adherence to best practice web design and content creation workflows.
  • Resourceful, self-starter who takes initiative and responsibility on all projects from start to finish
  • Reviews content for timeliness and archives information as appropriate. 
  • Provides direction and concept for Web site navigation to ensure optimization of user experience and to encourage increase site visitations and referrals. 
  • Leads team’s development, deployment and maintenance of digital strategies, including SEO optimization, content integration, analytics assessment and user engagement.
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness
  • Prepares and maintain project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and resource to department stakeholders with regards to web site content and standards.
  • Reviews and verifies consistency in language and design of all communications and marketing efforts, including all media and publicly disseminated information.
  • Maintains competitive analysis of department websites and advises on opportunities for further enhancement and development of web pages.
  • Curates and builds department e-newsletters, event invitations, and other mass emails, and manage review and approval processes.
  • Creates interactive/social media marketing campaigns; Leverages EOSS social media accounts to identify constituencies, individuals, and/or targeted audiences with high social networking potential to communicate compelling information, marketing materials and related topics to others.
  • Conduct ROI analysis to identify highest value interactive/social media marketing campaigns using web analytical tools and technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business, Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of related experience in marketing, communications or business including experience with rich media publishing tools, database management, web site content management and use of interactive business models, Web technologies and social media businesses; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the use of web technology related to marketing communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of graphic design principles with respect to aesthetic fundamentals, audience identification, readability, and persuasive principles to apply to communications resulting in high quality, results-driven digital communications.
  • Experience in writing and editing for interactive media. Experience creating email communications using SalesForce Marketing Cloud a plus.
  • Experience in analytics tracking tools (Google Analytics, etc.) and search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Drupal, Flash, Vimeo and UX design programs; experience with Web Spark 2.0 brand standards a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles, practices and procedures.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internet based social networking formats, audiences and usage standards. Knowledge and understanding of interactive media, tools and technologies, including Four Winds Interactive cloud-based digital signage platform.
  • Experience in exercising a high degree of judgment and diplomacy.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and and responding appropriately to requests; escalating urgent/conflicting requests. Evidence of applying good/concise communication skills during personal, written and telephone interactions. Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
