DUTIES :

Monitor the Liferay portal system to ensure quality service to Northeastern students/faculty/staff. Manage the execution of all portal change requests which includes portal configuration changes and content changes. Perform new environment standups as needed. Manage the shutdown, recovery, and testing of all impacted applications during operating system patching cycles. Manage Liferay administrations and user/groups as required. Coordinate with System, Network, and Enterprise Application teams to troubleshoot portal-related issues. Participate in after-hours support for assistance in production recovery or time-sensitive changes which can only occur outside of standard business hours. Cross-team mentoring and training to assist in propagating application knowledge to other team members. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed. Position is fixed and based in Boston, MA office; however, telecommuting from a home office location is allowed.

REQUIREMENTS : Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or a directly related field plus two (2) years of technical experience as a Software Developer, Liferay Administrator, or related occupation.

Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • Working with AWS cloud platform.
  • Developing infrastructure as code for portal applications on AWS.
  • Fundamental knowledge and development/deployment application experience within Liferay portal.
  • Building portlets/modules within Liferay CMS tool.
  • Building and deploying microservices on AWS.
  • Apache Tomcat server administration and configuration, and optimization of performance.
  • Management, maintenance, and deployment with Apache Tomcat.
  • Experience with migrating applications from on-prem to AWS.
  • Defining, documenting, evolving, and evangelizing high engineering standards and best practices across multiple areas.

Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. 40 hours/week.
