Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience. Grade NC1. Wage Minimum $13.06/hr, Midpoint $17.61/hr, Maximum $22.61/hr

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a dental clinic setting experience.
  • Knowledge of an electronic health record database.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Comfortable in a high volume, high stress environment.
Position Description

The University of Louisville School of Dentistry prepares students for a career in Dentistry. Programs are available at the DMD level in general dentistry and the Master's level in endodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and prosthodontics. Dental Clinic Staff facilitate the interface between student providers and their patients during while delivering care within the clinics. All Dental Clinic Associates (DCA) directly support the work of the students as they progress towards completion of their clinical requirements. The Patient Services Representative facilitates the start of each patient appointment by checking each patient in and reviewing any necessary documentation for the visit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with faculty, peers, and supervisors to deliver customer service oriented and patient centered care within the DMD clinics.
  • As the first point of contact with the patient, the PSR checks patients in daily, confirming their contact information, current insurance, and consent forms, and registering new patients when needed.
  • Verifies insurance and details benefit coverage for patients when appropriate.
  • Conducts financial transactions, accepts and posts payments, issues receipts, and balances cash drawer at end of day.
  • Creates, reviews, and manages payment plans with patients.
  • Answers the phone in a timely and professional manner, managing a multi-line system.
  • Schedules patient appointments as necessary.
  • Maintains HIPPA, OSHA and Infection Control compliance at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
