Description

The Data Engineer, Supervisor is a key role in technology initiatives to advance health informatics and analytics in the health sciences by advancing the usability, performance, and overall architecture of the enterprise data warehouse. This role leads a team of Data Engineers to develop data extraction, transformation, and load processes between source and target data structures, and supports developers on development of data warehouse, in collaboration with data architecture and other stakeholders. Besides leading a team, the candidate is expected to write efficient and highly performant code that is scalable and have a thorough knowledge of internal workings of database systems. The Data Engineer, Supervisor is a key role in supporting UCLA Health Sciences initiatives that drive clinical, financial and operational improvement. The incumbent is expected to understand the clinical, financial and operational issues to be solved and to determine targeted individual and/or linked healthcare data sets (structured and unstructured). This is a flex-hybrid role which will require you to be onsite at least once a month or as needed by operational need. Please note that there are no reimbursements for travel to “home office” location. Each employee must complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager which will outline arrangement parameters and aids both parties in fully understanding expectations. Arrangements are regularly evaluated, and are subject to termination. Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position $95,900 – $222,100 annually. The budgeted salary that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is about $95,900 – $160,000 annually.



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

• Five plus years of strong work experience in designing, developing, and supporting large-scale data warehouses. • Experience leading small teams of up to 5 Data Engineers including work assignment, project tracking, performance evaluations and career growth. • Strong SQL programming skills, particularly Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. • Strong understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, data mining, and ETL design processes. • Programming expertise in languages like C# or Python. • Strong experience in Business Intelligence tools like SSIS, Azure Data Factory. • Expertise in database architecture, storage, and Query Optimizer. • Experience working in the agile software development environment is a plus. • Work experience with healthcare data is preferred.
