The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

Job Summary
The Data Analyst will lead, design, and implement data science methodologies to support principal
investigators working in the domain of transportation analysis and planning. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.

Essential Duties

  • Perform research on externally funded research projects and assist in developing and improving data processing and analysis protocols using advanced data science tools and techniques (60%)

  • Work within teams of researchers to help develop high-quality reports, presentations, scientific visualizations, and other documentation (15%).

  • Develops a broad knowledge of transportation-related data. Develops robust process flows for data storage, analysis, and reporting to be used in current and future work (10%).

  • Mentors other researchers and students on programming, big data processing, record linkage, and data visualization. (5%)

  • Communicates and interacts with sponsors (5%)

  • Performs other duties as assigned (5%)

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., computer science, mathematics, engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience (HS diploma + 4 YOE).

  • Three years of experience in data analysis.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering or related subject.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Data analytics, mathematical modeling, and statistical analysis.

  • Programming languages: Python, R, PostgreSQL

  • Data storage: PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud-based data.

  • Ability to work independently, but collaboratively.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Advanced GIS skills.

  • Transportation modeling/traffic engineering.

  • Knowledge of OpenStreetMap and routing algorithms.

  • Cloud computing (Microsoft Azure).

  • A Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
