Custodial Specialist III

The Opportunity:

UCF’s Recreation and Wellness Center seeks applicants for a Custodial Specialist III. The Custodial Specialist III position is responsible for, but not limited to, supervising, training, planning, scheduling, and coordinating the workload for assigned employees in a timely manner to ensure quality maintenance, sanitation, safety, and proper function of all buildings, systems, equipment, and surrounding environment related to the Recreation and Wellness Center.

This is an Auxiliary (AUX) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

Cleaning:

  • Cleans and stocks restroom facilities and other common-use areas according to standards

  • Removes trash and recycling

  • Sweeps and wet mops floors, and refinishes by stripping, waxing, and buffing

  • Pressure washes as needed

  • Vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas; moves and replaces furniture

  • Cleans furniture, walls, equipment, windows, and doors

Record Keeping:

  • Assists with inventory control and security

  • Reports deficiencies, such as maintenance, hazards, and sanitation issues

  • Sets up and breaks down equipment for special events

Special Assignments:

  • Assists in restocking custodial closets when needed

  • Sets up and breaks down equipment for special events

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of 9th grade and 4+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to use small and/or large floor equipment for carpet and hard floor care

  • Ability to use tools required for the task (mop/mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, radio, etc.)

  • Ability to comprehend safety for EH&S-approved chemicals for daily cleaning of restrooms, floors, and surfaces and be able to use approved chemicals

Health Assessment Required:  

UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

The selected candidate must be willing to get Certified in CPR/First Aid and Blood-Pathogen.

This position requires a valid Class E. Driver's License. This position may involve driving to various locations on & off campus to conduct University Business.
