Position Summary
The Cross Country/Distance Track Coach- Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting the head track and field coach in all aspects of cross country and distance events in the spring and Director of operations-related duties.
Essential Functions
  • Monitor distance runner’s daily and weekly mileage.
  • Assist head coach with the administration of workouts and recruiting of distance runners.
  • Direct the summer cross country camp and assist with the home cross country meet in an assistant-director role.
  • Assist in recruitment of qualified prospective student-athletes in the distance events (cross country and 800 and up in track).
  • Participate in campus visits for prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist head coach with academic monitoring and mentoring.
  • Oversee team travel, ordering, and organization of Adidas team gear, office organization, and home meet management responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office, particularly excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Current UIW Graduate student.
Required Work Experience
Experience as a Division I Track and Field student-athlete in the distance events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in coaching cross country/track & field, strong work ethic and self-starter, organizational skills and great attention to detail.
  • Success as an student-athlete at the conference level. Experience working summer camps and doing campus recruiting tours.

Work Hours
  • Hours will vary dependent on practices. 
  • 20 hours per week, up to 25 hours.
