Job Summary:

The Crnic Institute is seeking a highly motivated full-time IT Professional to support various IT projects including database set up and management, server administration and maintenance, oversight of IT system architecture, and development of websites and online researcher portals. The qualified candidate will have extensive IT experience and can lead projects under the supervision of the faculty. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain, and manage databases of clinical data and other research data.
  • Lead development of relational databases integrating diverse data types with specified business logic.
  • Set up and administer secure cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for databases and data banks. Create and maintain documentation to support informatics pipelines and meet project management delivery schedules.
  • Follow software development best practices, including version control, automated linting, software packaging, and automated testing and provide subject matter expertise to the team in these areas.
  • Utilize frameworks for both front-end and back-end applications including database structures and front-end optimizations.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings (Aurora, CO).

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Level:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of professional level experience with the design and maintenance of sophisticated databases and online researcher portals in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Senior Level:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience with the design and maintenance of sophisticated databases and online researcher portals in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Principal Level:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of professional level experience with the design and maintenance of sophisticated databases and online researcher portals in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with clinical and/or medical data in a research setting.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with one or more relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQLite, etc.).
  • One (1) or more years of experience with cloud-based computing solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with PHP programming language with experience in Node, JS Frameworks/Libraries such as Drupal, React, Bootstrap, Express, Next and GraphQL, Java, Three.js, and API integrations.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with Python and one or more Python web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django, etc.).
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with R programming language.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience using data engineering and data orchestration tools (WDL, Nextflow, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, etc.).
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working with Unix and/or Linux, including shell scripting.
  • Experience with microservice architecture, using containers such as Docker/Containerd, Singularity, etc.
  • Documented open-source contributions.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with Ansible, Terraform, or other infrastructure as code solutions.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as:

Intermediate Level: $65,851 - $83,763

Senior Level: $71,191 - $90,555

Principal Level: $81,869 - $104,138

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
