Department of Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Human Services (CSH)

The Department of Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Human Services (CSH) houses 18 faculty working in three academic programs: Counselor Education (School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an additional Advanced Graduate Certificate in Addictions) and School Psychology (Educational Specialist- School Psychology, and Ph.D.) at the graduate level; and Human Services at the undergraduate level. CSH faculty and programs are deeply committed to social justice issues of equity, community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, high academic standards, scholarship, and student success. The CSH department seeks to foster a climate of respect for individuals, fun, humor, and appreciation of each other, positive collaborations, personal/social wellness, and individual/collective kindness. ROLE of the POSITION

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Counselor Education, Assistant/Associate/Full professor, UNLV College of Education.

This is a full-time, open rank, tenured/tenure track faculty position. Responsibilities involve teaching graduate level courses, conducting research in a focused scholarship agenda, obtaining external funding, advising master's level students, helping maintain program accreditation standards, and contributing to the development of a doctoral program.  

The university has attained Tier I status, which requires faculty to maintain a record of professional activities, including ongoing research activity, publications, grant work, contributions to professional associations and program development. Candidates will be expected to support and contribute to the strategic goals of the college/university. 

The Counselor Education program within the CSH Department values a broad array of experiences and perspectives and is committed to continually supporting, promoting and building an inclusive and culturally rich learning environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires an earned Ph.D. from a regionally accredited college or university and CACREP-accredited program in Counselor Education. Applicants must be licensed or license eligible as a school counselor or clinical mental health counselor in the State of Nevada. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. Applicants should have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, research, scholarly activity including securing external funding, and a capacity and interest in leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications for the Assistant Professor rank:

  • Potential or evidence of scholarship, securing or applying for external funding for research/program;
  • Potential or experience of university collaborative efforts involving public schools, postsecondary institutions, and/or agencies;
  • Full-time teaching experience; content knowledge/expertise in one or more of several areas consistent with department offerings;
  • Capacity and interest in leadership;
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds;
  • Professional identity as a school counselor educator with experience teaching and producing scholarship on topics related to the field. 

Preferred Qualifications for Associate Professor and Professor ranks

  • Experience and capacity for leadership at the departmental level as well as involvement in Counselor Education at the regional and/or national level.
  • Evidence or strong record of scholarship, securing or applying for external funding for research/program development; university collaborative efforts involving public schools, community agencies, and/or postsecondary institutions;
  • Full-time teaching experience; content knowledge/expertise in one or more of several areas consistent with department offerings; 
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds;
  • Professional identity as a school counselor

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
