Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Coordinator will provide extensive support for all facets of a large, complex department while maintaining the highly confidential nature of the department’s administrative matters (i.e., Chair’s office and personnel matters). This position will coordinate the activities of various departmental committees to include the Department Council and faculty search and APT committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to learn new databases available on campus.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, very efficient and able to work independently.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a professional business environment.
Preferences:

  • Knowledge of UMCP personnel policies and procedures, including the Faculty Success/FAR and OPA reporting procedures for faculty and staff process, and the ability to train those who will be completing the forms, thorough knowledge of university APT policies and procedures.

Physical Demands
  • Mostly sedentary work performed in an office environment requiring the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards for extended times.
  • Ability to review, prepare, and analyze data and figures, transcribe, and engage extensive reading of materials and computer screens.
  • Ability to traverse short/long distances on and off campus to attend meetings and events.
  • Position requires involvement in the set-up, break-down and staging at meetings and special events.
