Job Description

Access ASU is dedicated to increasing access to higher education and preparing Arizona students for success through family engagement, strategic K-12 education, and community partnerships. Access ASU’s programs and initiatives are designed to ensure all Arizona students graduate high school ready to thrive in college and the 21st-century workforce.
Access ASU seeks a dynamic individual with experience and interest in outreach. The Coordinator for Access ASU- Community Engagement position will support promoting higher education for Arizona communities, students, and parents. This position will develop programming and create and present workshops to encourage post-secondary education for students and families. Under general supervision, the Coordinator will plan, organize, and coordinate activities, functions, and programs following priorities, time limitations, funding limitations, and other specifications. This position is front-facing, working closely and collaborating with community partners to continue to create a college-going culture. The Coordinator will actively move Access ASU initiatives forward, including increasing access to higher education for K-12 students and their families.

Regular Schedule: In-person, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday to include evenings and some weekends, as needed. Work schedule must be flexible to accommodate evening and weekend programming. Work location is primarily at the Tempe campus; however, the incumbent may be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses to perform work, driving their own vehicle.

Salary Range

$42,000 - $47,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Develop and deliver college readiness and career exploration presentations to groups, including grade-level students, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate with ASU departments, community partners, and colleagues to develop and foster relationships.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and data analysis to drive solutions forward.
  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the University and with diverse populations and groups.
  • Coordinate logistics, scheduling, and program participant communication.
  • Schedule facilities and services for use by campus and outside organizations.
  • Provide leadership training and organization management through workshops and seminars to targeted groups.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings, or conferences with a high impact on the program and/or participants.
  • Represent the college/department and serve on various department and university committees.
  • Assist in Access ASU summer camp planning, programming, and implementation.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating outreach strategies to meet the goals of enrolling the full demographic of Arizona students. With a focus on application, admit, and enrollment to ASU.
  • Other duties as assigned to support department goals and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Use computers effectively – including inputting, reviewing, and retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, and using mouse and keyboard.
  • Communicate effectively to perform essential duties.
  • Use standard office equipment, including multi-line telephone, copier, scanner, pc-based computer, and accessories.
  • Walk throughout campus for meetings or events, regardless of the weather.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
  • Climb stairs in locations with no elevator, such as with the mezzanine level of the MU, or Irish Hall.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. 
  • Regular activities require flexibility, work with ambiguity, and adapt to quickly changing priorities.
  • Requires a clean driving record.

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success. EOSS provides a broad range of services and support to students and prospective students ranging from outreach efforts with K-12 schools, orientation programs for new freshmen, bridge programs to assist the transition to a university environment, and a wide variety of services, programs, and activities for enrolled students.
