Position Summary

The UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking for a Content Specialist to join our Community Relations Department.  The duties and responsibilities of this position are:

·               Contributes to the operational planning, establishment, and execution of ongoing new digital media content pertaining to social media for the unit. Produces strategic content for various social media sites and platforms for targeted audiences.

·               Conceptualizes, designs, writes, edits, and films high-quality organic and paid social media and digital content to support the university's and UNM Cancer Center’s social media strategic goals. Suggests, evaluates, and evolves content creation workflow.

·               Maintains social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant social networking sites for the Lobo Cancer Challenge; maintains content related to new media for assigned websites.

·               Work with the Community Relations team on Strategic planning, coordination and creation of social media content on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other relevant social networking sites.

·               Conceptualizes, writes, edits and creates digital and video content for Community Relations.

·               Assists in coordinating major events and supports with community outreach and community engagement.

·               Creates accompanying materials for marketing campaigns

·               Monitors current social media and digital media trends to evaluate whether current trends are consistent with established social media strategy; recommends adjustments as needed.

·               Identifies and engages in online discussions in a timely manner; crafts responses to commenters and community members.

·               Participates in social media meetings to gather and provide new ideas from team members; oversees digital content framework while contributing to team goals.

·               Participates in the maintenance of an evergreen digital content library.

·               Assists in coordinating the collection, compilation, and analysis of online sentiment and engagement data.

·               Identifies, creates, and captures shareable moments related to the community.

·               Consults and contributes to the execution of social media special projects and campaigns; contributes to the unit content calendar.

·               Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its more than 136 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico’s cancer patients from all across the state and partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. They treated almost 15,000 patients in more than 100,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of nearly 1,855 patients participated in cancer clinical trials testing new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The more than 123 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNMCCC were awarded $38.2 million in federal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects. Since 2015, they have published nearly 1000 manuscripts, and promoting economic development, they filed 136 new patents and launched 10 new biotechnology start-up companies. Finally, the physicians, scientists and staff have provided education and training experiences to more than 500 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancer health care delivery. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 4 years of experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

·         Video production

·         Event planning

·         Social media

Additional Requirements Finalists should be prepared to provide official educational transcripts if selected for hire.
