Job Description

Purpose:

The Communications Specialist III works under the direction of the Assistant Director on College of Engineering recruitment initiatives for both undergraduate and graduate programs. The communications specialist assists in gathering exciting content to be used in recruitment collateral, takes photos, conducts interviews, writes articles and contributes to the college social media channels. The Communications Specialist III, builds out and supports a multi-level communication plan for multiple constituents across the university.

Responsibilities:

Oversight of Recruitment Communications Strategy:

  • Build out and support of a multi-level communication plan for multiple constituents across the university.
  • Maintain understanding of general marketing principles and communication goals of the department, division, and university.
  • Develop associated marketing campaigns and communication products.
  • Coordinate with undergraduate and graduate recruiters.
  • Coordinates with the university CRM team, Office of Admissions, Undergraduate Recruitment & Outreach, and the Graduate and Professional School.  
  • Leads the build-out of forms, landing pages, and communications.
  • Review past communication campaigns and messaging for revisions/efficacy.
  • Execute event testing and optimization.
  • Manage the "behind the scenes" aspects of recruitment programs using Slate data and Google Analytics tools, providing reports and metrics to Assistant Director for strategic planning and assessment.
  • Assists with the management of the graduate and undergraduate recruitment budgets.

Research/Analytics:

  • Develops reports in response to questions raised on trends, effectiveness and correlations. Coordinates and executes test strategies around key email components such as subject lines, timing, audience and creative segmentation and frequency to drive stronger performance of email channel.
  • Creates and coordinates processes for data collection. Measures conversion data for various activities.
  • Creates benchmarks and tracks analytics across communications and push performance.
  • Compiles, tracks and analyzes campaign performance KPIs and make recommendations to existing campaigns based on this analysis and drive recruitment efforts.
     

Updated design and trends:

  • Coordinates with graphic designers and photographers for digital assets associated with templates.
  • Oversees the production of publications and graphic displays for campaigns.

Communications Oversight:

  • Ensures accuracy of all communications prior to sending by verifying brand standards are being followed. Communicates query requirements to ensure email communications are delivered to the correct audience segment.
  • Optimizes email marketing automation journeys for timely and relevant communications.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of email marketing trends and best practices, deliverability, technologies and CAN-SPAM laws. Keeps up to date with new CRM functionalities and capabilities through research into system documentation.

Other Duties:

  • Supervision and management of recruitment communications team.
  • Assists Assistant Director with coordinating and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy.
  • Assists Assistant Director with production of strategic recruitment campaigns.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of related experience.
