Georgetown’s Survey, Recruitment, and Biospecimen Collection Shared Resource (SRBSR) provides advice and consultation services on most of the components of study implementation. SRBSR can assess the number of available cases, the feasibility of accrual, and biospecimen availability as part of planning new applications. SRBSR also consults investigators survey design, measures for use in patient surveys, subject tracking and data management, and regulatory issues; and advises investigators on the choice of available, validated survey instruments and items for capturing patient-reported health data based on the objectives of each study.
Job Overview
The Clinical Research Coordinator serves activities related to the Survey, Recruitment, and Biospecimen Collection Shared Resource (SRBSR) at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC), with a primary responsibility for recruiting patients to the SRBSR Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved protocol, the Georgetown MedStar Research Registry (GMR2), and other IRB approved protocols administered by the SRBSR.
The Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for screening clinic schedules, obtaining informed consent on all eligible and interested participants, administering study related questionnaires, biospecimen acquisition and delivery, data entry, and maintenance of records. They also conduct patient follow-up and triage patients into relevant related studies; fully document all procedures and conduct routine quality assurance checks; administer data requests and reports to the SRBSR Director as needed; and perform all duties in accordance with Georgetown University Medical Center’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards; as well as study protocols, standard operating procedures, and HIPAA and human subjects protection guidelines.

The Clinical Research Coordinator, supervised by the SRBSR Director, with oversight provided by SRBSR co-directors, interacts with the following:
- SRBSR Clinical Research Coordinators
- SRBSR Database Manager
- Principal Investigators, Physicians, Clinicians, Infusion Nurses and hospital staff
- Georgetown University Institutional Review Board
- GUMC Shared Resources including TCBSR and HTSR
- Study sponsors and study monitors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or health related field
- At least 2 years of experience in clinical research
- Experience with interactive databases, Microsoft, and EHR systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical abilities, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities
Preferred qualification
Phlebotomy experience
