Clinical Research Associate I - Radiation Oncology

This appointment is for a full-time in-person position in the Department of Radiation Oncology. The position is responsible for all protocols specific to the RefleXion linear accelerator. RefleXion is a novel radiation machine that delivers treatment using positron emission tomography (PET) guidance. As it is a new technology and our program is one of the first to have this machine, we expect to have several investigators initiated clinical trials and at least one registry trial on which we will enroll patients.

The role manages an assigned set of multiple research protocols specific to the RefleXion machine to assure efficiency and regulatory compliance of the protocol, attending clinic as needed, with mentorship by experienced staff.  Responsible for compilation, registration and submission of data. Maintains a system for effective data flow associated with research protocols. The position is an in-person appointment, and the expectation is that the clinical research associate would be in the radiation oncology department during general clinic hours to help consent and enroll patients.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Conduct protocol management for an assigned set of multiple research protocols.
  • Maintain current and accurate protocol documentation; notify investigators of pertinent protocol changes.
  • Maintain and complete regulatory documents for IRB, DSMB, and PRMC/CPRMC.
  • Compile and submit data on appropriate forms according to protocol requirements.
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Collect and deliver specimens for analysis, using appropriate or specified equipment for collecting and handling specimens; ensure proper labeling and obtain pertinent clinical and protocol information on request forms; develop and maintain knowledge of various aspects of processing specimens, paying particular attention to safety practices.
  • Work with physician or nurse to see that protocol related tests and evaluations are ordered per protocol guidelines.
  • Play active role in recruitment of patients to study.
  • Perform protocol specific duties as required per the research study.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • One-year experience working in a health care setting, preferably in research. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Medical Record, Health Information Systems, clinical trials exposure or related health field.
