Clinical Lab Scvs Technician (HS)


Department:

Provides daily operational support to the Biomarker Reference Laboratory at The Ohio State University within the Department of Pathology; performs clinical and research work utilizing ELISA assays; collects and organizes clinical and research specimens; processes specimens and provides testing services; verifies and reports test results; carries out general laboratory organization and maintains and updates lab inventory; prepares and changes solutions and properly disposes of chemical waste; maintains standard lab safety procedures; implements, performs and documents instrument/equipment preventive maintenance and repairs as scheduled; performs and documents quality control and proficiency testing procedures; interacts with team members, participating hospitals, surgical pathologists, research investigators and support staff to ensure quality service; communicates with customers requesting clinical testing to coordinate submission of appropriate specimens and corresponding reports.

Minimum education required:

Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, or medical laboratory science. Coursework must include at least 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination.

Required Qualifications:

Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
