Position SummaryUNM Center for Occupational Environmental Health Promotions within the department of Internal Medicine is seeking a temp administrative assistant to perform a range of basic office support activities for the department. Job duties to include; answers phones, routes calls, takes messages, schedules patient appointments, provides general information; greets and directs visitors; answers routine inquiries; opens and routes incoming mail; distributes correspondence and other material to department staff/faculty.  This position will also perform a variety of routine assignments as appropriate to the position. May operate a personal computer to draft basic correspondence, and prepare medical records for storage.  Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Annual TB testing may be required if working in a patient care area.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must possess basic office experience including, use of copiers, fax machine, email
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Suite, to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous office / customer service experience
  • Proficiency in Mac and PC operation systems
  • General knowledge of UNM Main and HSC campus buildings
Additional RequirementsExperience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred. Bilingual (Spanish-English) is a plus.
