Job Summary
The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for the full-time, 12 month, position of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The successful candidate should hold a DVM (or equivalent) degree, or will have obtained the degree by the time of appointment, and have recent veterinary clinical experience. Either an M.S. degree in a field related to veterinary medicine, board certification in a veterinary medical specialty, or documented evidence of teaching abilities are preferred. The successful applicant will provide instruction in microanatomy, gross anatomy, and/or physiology, depending upon the departmental needs and the candidate’s greatest area of expertise. The candidate will work with instructors in the clinical disciplines to better integrate first-year DVM subject matter with medicine and surgery. We seek an individual who will excel in teaching in the classroom and laboratories and conduct scholarly and innovative activities to advance veterinary education at Purdue and in the global veterinary community. The individual in this position will be expected to publish papers in veterinary medical educational journals, both from collaborative and independent studies. The Department and College will provide mentoring for teaching and development of educational scholarship.
The College of Veterinary Medicine has a focus on educating the veterinary team, including students in the DVM and Veterinary Nursing programs. The successful candidate will possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
