Job Information
 

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules appointments for University students by phone or in person utilizing Point and Click and/or Epic computer systems.
  • Initiates greetings and positive interaction with students, visitors, and staff.
  • Delivers a welcoming impression, conveys clear, precise information and directions in both face-to-face, and telephone encounters.
  • Maintains a current understanding of the processing procedures to respond to student inquiries
  • Completes check-in for students including, confirming identification and ensuring that the appropriate consent and registration forms are completed.
  • Completes check-out process for students including scheduling follow up appointments and processing referrals
  • Coordinates administrative office functions as assigned including completion of the shared departmental inbox.
  • Exercises independent judgment regarding when to initiate emergency procedures.
  • Assists with resolving issues by seeking out the appropriate resources.
  • Obtains demographic and insurance information in a sensitive and confidential manner.
  • Coordinates scheduling and order entry for specialty appointments and physician orders.
  • Maintains and retrieves medical records per office protocol.
  • Accepts payment and issue receipts for services rendered.
  • Utilizes a wide range of computer systems effectively.
  • Performs all tasks related to student visits completely, efficiently, effectively and in a professional manner.

Additional Requirements ​​
 

Education, Experience or Certifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Prior experience working in a hospital, outpatient health care, or college counseling setting preferred.
  • Familiar with hospital or medical/counseling information systems/electronic medical record preferred.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical/counseling terminology preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills and focus required.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Typing skills of 35wpm or faster.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Communicate, professionally, in writing and verbally.
  • Develop and manage interpersonal relationships.
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality while handling sensitive situations.
  • Follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Give directions.
  • Pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to react effectively, quickly, calmly, and rationally during conflicts and emergencies.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Clinical care setting.
  • Sit or stand for 4 hours or more.
  • Use computers extensively for 4 hours or more.
  • Use standard office equipment.  
  • Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue as part of employment, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
  • Occupational risk for exposure to infectious material and communicable diseases.
  • Required annual TB control training and/or other health screenings.
  • Work may be performed in varied locations inside/outside of the clinical setting, including other campus or offsite locations.
  • Work schedule is 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with possible evenings and weekends depending on clinic needs.

Pay Range:

  • $19.94-$30.68
