Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the executive administrator of the Information Technology department and the Earl K. Long library;

  • Planning, review, operation and evaluation of all academic computing services and related technologies to support the teaching, student and research missions of the University;

  • Planning, review and operation of all administrative computing services to support the administrative needs of the University;

  • Planning and management of the enterprise network for main and satellite campuses;

  • Planning, review, and operation of the university's telecommunication system-voice, image and data;

  • Responsible for short-term and long-range planning, development and management of library faculty and staff, assessment, budgetary oversite, collection management, fundraising, and facility management;

  • Responsible for advancing the library and developing a pathway to create a library of the future, by expanding its role within the university and broader community, and to lead the development of creative and innovative programming;

  • Responsible for integrating new and emerging technologies with traditional library resources and services, works effectively with faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students as an advocate for the library and the archives, and seeks to promote the library as a center for student learning and innovation;

  • Assist Business Affairs with the development of strategic technology plans and the implementation of information technology objectives;

  • Manage and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology;

  • Review and approve contracts for computing and information technology software, services, and equipment;

  • Oversee ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements;

  • Serve on planning and policy-making committees;

  • Support the teaching and infrastructure of on-line education;

  • Supervises direct reports and indirect reports;

  • Participate in such other activities as determined by the President.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library Science/Information Sciences or equivalent from an accredited program.

  • Senior level experience in progressively responsible information technology and library management.

  • Commitment to collaborative and data-driven decision making with a demonstrated record of working effectively with administration, faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies is required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of current issues and trends in academic librarianship and in higher education.

  • Experience with assessment and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, personnel, resource allocation, and budget/fiscal management.

​Desired Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate degree.  

  • Experience with accreditation processes and learning commons initiatives.


Salary:

  • Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
