Job Description


Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. This is a full-time nine-month teaching faculty-ranked appointment. The Central Sterile Processing Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, laboratory education, clinical coordination, student advising, and program support for the Central Sterile Processing Program. The faculty member teaches didactic, laboratory, hybrid, and clinical courses; coordinates clinical learning experiences; maintains relationships with healthcare partners; supports program assessment and continuous quality improvement; and promotes student success, credential attainment, and workforce readiness.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST); or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
  • Minimum of five years of recent experience in sterile processing, central service, surgical services, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in decontamination, sterilization, instrumentation, infection prevention, and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience serving as a preceptor, educator, trainer, supervisor, or clinical instructor.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Additional Considerations
  • Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Teaching, precepting, staff development, or clinical education experience
  • Experience with clinical coordination and student advising
  • Experience with accreditation and outcomes assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in both didactic and clinical settings, including course development, student assessment, course evaluations and advising.
  • Education to include principles of teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology routinely into instructional responsibilities (multimedia, flipped classroom teaching strategies, and test construction).

This is a restricted position that is dependent upon funding. The availability of funding is scheduled to end on June 30, 2029, but may be extended based on the continuation of funding. Continued employment is contingent upon funding availability.
