Coordinator Senior
Job Description
The Case Investigator Sr/Trainer in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR) provides thoughtful expertise to support student persistence and success. This position plays a significant role with the retention and success of students primarily via the development and implementation of training about the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) Student Code of Conduct and ASU’s student conduct procedures for students, faculty, staff, and other constituents. The Case Investigator Sr/Trainer engages with students, peers, and other members of the ASU community, with the goal of maintaining an environment that encourages reasoned discourse, intellectual honesty, openness to constructive change, and respect for the rights of all. The Case Investigator Sr/Trainer may conduct low-level investigations as needed, including assisting with the Residential Review Board and Greek Review Board. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities on the Tempe campus.

Essential Duties
- Designs and updates on an ongoing basis a curriculum for training campus partners and other constituencies to ensure ongoing understanding and appropriate application of the ABOR Student Code of Conduct and the conduct process
- Provides ongoing trainings, consultations, and policy interpretations to students, faculty, staff and community members in relation to the ABOR Student Code of Conduct and the conduct process
- Investigates allegations of student misconduct with an emphasis on student development
- Monitors the progress of assigned cases to provide students the opportunity to consider the ways in which their conduct may define and impact their college experience, personally, and in relation to others
- Ensures students understand their rights and responsibilities and applying appropriate administrative actions, educational interventions, and/or disciplinary sanctions
- Ensures a complete investigative process while maintaining detailed letters and records, including the creation of comprehensive written investigative reports
- Collaborates with the Dean of Students, Office of General Counsel, Title IX Coordinator, Provost, University Rights and Responsibilities, ASU Police Department, Counseling, Student Advocacy and Assistance, Athletics, Academic Partners, and community partners to aid in a student’s personal development through the conduct process
- Performing other duties or projects, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Evidence of a Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Justice Studies, Social Work, Law Enforcement or a related field
- Experience designing and implementing training, workshops, or other developmental opportunities in an employment setting
- Experience with student housing and handling behavioral issues within a residential setting
- Experience with clubs and organizations, including fraternities/sororities and athletics
- Experience organizing, coordinating, and prioritizing a large workload within a fast-paced environment
- Experience serving a diverse student population with cultural competence and sensitivity
- Demonstrated knowledge of social media and public record searches/requests
- Evidence of effective communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with PeopleSoft and Maxient, or similar systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of investigative techniques, student development and holistic approaches to conflict resolution
- Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, VAWA, FERPA, Clery, and other applicable laws and regulations
- Experience conducting high-level investigations including alleged sexual harassment, sexual assault, or sexual violence
- Evidence of training through ATIXA, ASCA, or comparable professional organizations
- Evidence of training in FETI or other trauma informed training
- Knowledge of the principles and practices pertaining to student conduct and student learning and development
- Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices
- Knowledge of budget management methods and techniques
- Knowledge of strategic planning principles and practices
- Knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of organizational management
- Skill in problem solving and decision-making. Skill in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities
- Skill in effectively managing, supervising and evaluating assigned staff
- Skill in program design and development
- Skill in budget preparation and forecasting
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
