Job Description

The Center for the Future of Arizona (CFA) seeks a Business Operations Specialist to assist the organization’s fiscal and business operations efforts. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the organization achieves its mission to bring Arizonans together to create a stronger and brighter future for the state.  

The Business Operations Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of complex, technical clerical accounting and bookkeeping functions, including gathering from multiple sources to create detailed, accurate reports. The role is responsible for accuracy of complete, systematic set of transactions in a specialized capacity using various computer skills. The Business Operations Specialist is based in the Phoenix metro area. This position reports to the Director, Fiscal and Business Operations and works closely with CFA staff, vendors, and collaborators to support the success of the organization.

Salary Range

$45,000 - $55,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Process accounts payable invoices, employee reimbursements and other cash disbursements in compliance with the policies and procedures of the organization. 
  • Analyzes transactions and documents procedures to ensure compliance with accounting principles and the organization’s regulations.  
  • Review and code invoices or other transaction documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with pertinent organization or sponsor requirements. 
  • Coordinate the monthly employee credit card statement process, review for accuracy and completeness and proper coding in the accounting software. 
  • Create invoices as requested, process cash receipts, review and follow up on outstanding account receivable balances. 
  • Contact CFA staff, vendors, or other appropriate personnel regularly to resolve problems, keep all parties informed and to serve as a reference source; composes correspondence of a technical nature pertaining to assignments. 
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Seven (7) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and Salesforce (or other CRM applications). 
  • Experience in working with QuickBooks Online. 

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse. 
  • Hybrid work schedules available. 
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time. 
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 20 pounds. 
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. 
  • This position is based in the Phoenix metro area.
