What you need to know :

  • This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option that can be discussed further during the interview process.

  • The salary range for position is $45,000K - $60,000K. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

Job Summary:

The Business Coordinator II, under general supervision, provides support and coordination of a variety of business activities requiring independent judgment, including reviewing business documents, and assisting in developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts and budget data.

Essential Duties

  • Reviews, approves, and provides back up for signing vouchers and requisitions. Reviews and audits reconciliations of accounts. Develops, monitors, and reports budget activity. Prepares complex monthly and annual financial reports. Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors programs or services. Provides input and assists in developing policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Reviews, approves, and provides back up for invoices, purchases, and travel expense reports.

  • Manages payroll and payroll correction functions for the division.

  • Coordinates annual fiscal year closing activities and drafts new fiscal year plans. Coordinates fiscal activities. Proposes solutions to complex financial problems. Communicates cash handling procedures, audits and approves cash handling activities, and coordinates unit purchasing activities. Coordinates inventory process and maintenance of business files. Serves as a records management coordinator.

  • May serve as a liaison with financial, payroll, and/or human resources. May coordinate personnel activities of the unit. Coordinates and audits personnel files, and reviews and approves leave requests.

  • Assists with administration of contracts and grants. Prepares budgets for review by principal investigator(s). Develops complex financial and statistical analyses and summary reports. Composes routine correspondence. Recommends, implements and audits business procedures. Assists with administration of unit, program, or project.

  • Participates in the hiring and training of business staff and/or student workers and may provide supervision. Trains staff on new and existing business procedures and interprets policies and regulations for staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor any equivalent combination of training and experience (HS diploma + 4 YOE).

  • Three years related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s plus 1 year or 5 years of related work experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A motivated and enthusiastic self-starter with proven ability to set priorities, manage multiple concurrent activities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

  • Strong sense of internal and external customer service.

  • Demonstrated skill and experience with the MS Office suite of programs. Proficiency using Word and Excel Tools.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to develop solutions for team productivity.

  • Experience in TAMUS.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the financial and operational management of sponsored research projects.

  • Accounting skills.

  • Proficiency in Canopy/FAMIS, Maestro.

  • Excellent writing and verbal communications.

  • Strong organizational skills which can be employed to individual work as well as to assist support other team members.

  • Experience with enterprise financial systems. Ability to adapt quickly to specialized computer application and willingness to learn new systems and tools.

  • Experience in supporting multiple research projects. Good judgment and sensitivity in handling and using confidential information

  • Experience in general office operations.

  • Experience in general human resources procedures.
