Job Description

Reviews, analyzes, implements, and evaluates business systems and user needs for a core functional area. Serves as the liaison between the business organization and the technology team. Designs solutions and writes requirements specifications, develops and executes test plans, and works with technical staff to build and implement the technology solution.

Essential Duties

  • Manages projects for a core functional area by preparing and maintaining implementation plans, managing project issues and ensuring project tasks are completed.
  • Facilitates decision-making by communicating across project teams and functional areas; elicits requirements using interviews, requirements meetings, surveys, document analysis, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
  • Applies approved project methods, standards and processes to reduce total cost of ownership by applying best practices.
  • Serves as liaison between the functional project team and the technology support organization. 
  • Writes business process documentation.
  • Consults with customer to conduct requirements gathering and solution design to address business needs. Provides information to project/development teams so that solutions meet customer's needs.
  • Provides expertise in software testing design and coordinate performance of tests.
  • Consults with Information Security team and PeopleSoft Security team to identify and/or develop roles specific to users and coordinates security design.
  • Supports functional users in developing reports.
  • Supports end-user through on-call support and problem resolution, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of experience in procedural, management or systems analysis work; OR, Six (6) years of experience in procedural, management, or systems analysis work; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/ or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of higher education administrative systems and related business principles.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft products, tools, and methods.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in conducting management studies and in performing systems analysis.
  • Knowledge of automated and manual management information systems.
  • Knowledge of forms design and procedures development.
  • Knowledge of implementing software or custom systems in one or more of the following areas: Student Administration Systems; Human Resources - HR, Payroll, Flexible Benefits, Pension; Technical - RDBMS, DBA, Client-server Systems
  • Ability to analyze complicated problems.
  • Ability to create conceptual solutions that are technically feasible.
  • Ability to clearly explain concrete processes and abstract concepts both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform effectively as a member of a team.

Working Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional standing and walking.
  • Ability to communicate to perform essential duties.
  • Moderate bending, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
