Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine / UI Health, Department of Radiology at Chicago seeks candidates for an open-rank faculty position in Breast Imaging. Departmental and institutional leadership opportunities also exist for the appropriate candidate.

UI Health provides comprehensive care, education, and research to the people of Illinois and beyond. A part of the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), UI Health comprises a clinical enterprise that includes a 462-bed tertiary care hospital, 26 outpatient clinics, and 13 Mile Square Health Center facilities, which are Federally Qualified Health Centers. It also includes the seven UIC health science colleges. The Division of Breast Imaging is housed within both the Department of Radiology the Center for Breast Care's Breast Imaging Center at University of Illinois Hospital, and is an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. We offer a full range of the breast imaging services, including screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and image-guided biopsy. Our current breast radiologists are all fellowship trained in breast imaging.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Principal duties include participation in patient care;
  • involvement in the formal education of trainees;
  • supervision of residents and medical students; while research/scholarly activity is desirable it is not necessary for this position.
  • Candidates with a history of successful clinical practice development, participation in educational programs, and leadership positions are encouraged to apply for this position.
  • The position covers all facets of breast imaging, including screening and diagnostic mammograms with tomosynthesis, automated whole breast ultrasound, diagnostic breast ultrasound and breast MRI.
  • The full spectrum of procedural work includes image-guided biopsies, localizations and aspirations. Participation in the breast imaging subspecialty team is requested, ranging from interdisciplinary meetings, consultations with referrers, updating protocols and building new business.
  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications
    Qualified applicants must have MD/DO degree in an appropriate field, and must be eligible for IL medical license. Qualified applicants must also be fellowship trained and certified (or eligible if a recent graduate) by the American Board of Radiology.
    Academic rank depends on experience and qualifications.
    Although not mandatory, applicants with past or active research funding are invited to apply; the Department offers a very generous package, including protected research time, for funded investigators.
