ATHLETIC TRAINER - Duke Orthopaedic Clinic Arringdon

We are seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients at Duke Orthopaedic Clinic Arringdon located in Morrisville, NC

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Perform appropriate patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, thorough history of condition or injury, chief complaint, assessment of pain level, completion and / or review of past medical history, family history social history and medication reconciliation.
  • Perform appropriate physical examination per patient history and chief complaint. This includes but is not limited to palpation of the affected area and unaffected area, range of motion testing, strength testing / manual muscle testing / dynamic muscle testing, myotome/dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing, or functional testing.
  • At direction of supervising physician, perform appropriate point of care testing and order appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care.
  • Document all aspects of evaluation, testing appropriately within the Electronic Health Record.
  • Collaborate with supervising physician to develop an appropriate plan of care for treatment/interventions.
  • Prepare for and assists physician with minor surgical procedures, including preparation of patient treatment site.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or equivalent from a CAATE accredited program required.
  • NATABOC Certification (National Athletic Trainers Association-Board of Certification) is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Work requires knowledge of the domains of athletic training: injury/illness prevention and wellness protection, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, and organizational and professional health and well-being.
  • Able to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
  • Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others
