Job Profile Summary

Broward College is conducting a search for a new Associate Vice President, Grants and Sponsored Programs. The college is seeking an effective leader to join an exceptional culture, team, and institution. The individual selected for this role will deepen the connections with the college and the local community.
This position, under general direction of the Vice President, Workforce Development & Strategic Partnership, oversees the coordination of resource development and grants management throughout the college. Directs activities and processes related to researching, evaluating, planning, and organizing the development and administration of grant funded projects. Develops the division’s strategic and operational goals while assisting college departments in the execution and efficient management of grants including compliance. Maintains effective partnerships with external funding agencies as well as the college’s academic and financial administration to ensure adequate communication and coordination of grants.
The role is central to the college's mission, vision, and strategic goals, enhancing its impact on workforce development and community enrichment. The individual will lead a team of grant professionals.

  

Minimum Education:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Ten years of relevant experience with a minimum of five years managing multi-million dollar federal, state, and local grants
  • Strong experience with grant management and compliance.
  • Higher education or public sector experience preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership and direction in the research of grant and resource opportunities and the management of those resources for the College that align with its initiatives, strategic goals and mission.
  • Responsible for oversight and management of grant writing, conducting/evaluating research, collaborating with internal and external constituents in the development of grant proposals. Provides guidance to Grant Project Directors to ensure grant compliance and coordination of resources for the College.
  • Provides administrative oversight to ensure the College's grants activities are in compliance with the provisions of all applicable federal and state regulatory standards, and adherence to college and foundation policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff and training.
  • Provides leadership in working closely with the diverse units that make up the college to improve upon operational efficiencies and build/enhance the college's grants enterprise. Communicates to faculty, administrators and staff of grant opportunities.
  • Responsible for recommendation, implementation, and interpretation, and maintenance of college grant policies and procedures. Remains current with emerging trends, standards and requirements, and resource allocation.
  • Negotiates the terms of the grant contracts and serves as a liaison between the College and external funders. Manages contracts with external consultants.
  • Develops and implements ongoing improvements and enhancements to the budgetary planning, administration, and related business processes. Manages the department budget.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
