The Associate University Counsel will engage in a challenging, sophisticated transactional and regulatory practice that will support the University’s international activities in areas that include foreign registrations, international research projects, study abroad programs, international joint degree and certificate programs, and data privacy. The Associate University Counsel will work closely with the University’s Chief International Officer, UNC Global, and other University units and departments that engage in sophisticated international work, as well as officers of the University’s associated entity, UNC Global Projects, LLC. The Associate University Counsel also will engage with outside counsel, including local counsel overseas, and will work closely with other members of the Office of University Counsel. This position entails drafting and negotiating cross-border contracts, assisting with operations overseas, and proactively identifying and implementing compliance measures for laws that impact the University, especially those that arise by virtue of its international presence. The Associate University Counsel may also perform general transactional legal work supporting various units within the University.
A law degree from an accredited school. Must be a member of the North Carolina bar or become a member within one year of employment.

A minimum of five years of relevant legal experience.
